Wrapping up 2020

Hello Friends!

Robert and I hope you are doing well. As we get ready to wrap up 2020 and this years weddings, we wanted to touch base with you guys for a couple of different reasons.

Taylor & Jackie - Picture 20 5.jpg

Firstly, we cannot thank you, our couples, fellow vendors, and wedding community enough for helping us not only survive 2020, but thrive! I know it’s been a scary and hard year for us all, but being able to celebrate love despite the current state of our world has been a huge bright spot for us as people and as a company. So THANK YOU!

Secondly, we wanted to say how impressed we have been with our couples and the wedding community. Switching gears, being creative and flexible during Covid-19 has been a stretch to say the least. We have had the honor of capturing 20 weddings post lockdown, with 2 more to go, and each couple has handled the process with such grace. It’s been an honor and a blessing to witness such resilience.

Lastly, we are incredibly excited for the 2021 wedding season!! We will continue to follow guidelines, and honor requests of our couples and fellow vendors all while capturing and creating the most epic wedding videos. Stay tuned for announcements on some new equipment and package options coming for 2021-2022.

All the best,

Your Bev Weddings Team,

Robert & Amy

Dearest Friendors,

Dearest Friendors,

Listen, I know we’re all getting weary of talking about the current events unfolding in our nation and globally right now. At least, I know I am. That’s why I wanted to shine a bright light on our industry and the amazing people who make it go round. Being a wedding professional is hard, but it’s also beautiful in ways that only we can understand.

Anytime we connect with a fellow wedding professional we can feel the deep understanding and connection over what it means to create for and serve people on arguably the most important day of their lives. I think that’s why we’ve all felt so collectively gutted over the postponement or cancellation of so many of our upcoming events. So many wedding dresses hung back on the hanger and stored in a closet for the time being. Not just the wedding date put on hold, but smiles, grand dinners, dances and embraces postponed as well. Not just for the friends and families that come together for such an event, but the friendors who come together and become close co-workers and friends for just a handful of days a year.

But I have to tell you to pat yourselves on the back. Firstly, for the way you’ve reached out to us, to your fellow wedding professionals with empathy and concern, not just for yourself but for all of us. How can I help? How can we get through this together? How can we look out for one another? It makes me tear up to just think of the conversations I’ve had with many of you. Secondly, the backbend, acrobatics that I’ve seen you do to make sure your client has the best outcome. It's truly something I wish everyone could see. The endless phone calls and emails between clients and vendors. All of us trying our best to put back the pieces of a perfectly planned day that took months, years to craft. It’s no small feat.

So from one wedding professional and friend to another, I see you, I thank you, and I appreciate you. Friendors make the wedding world go round, and though it feels at times like our world has stopped spinning, I know more wedding filled weekends are coming.

We can’t wait to see you all again soon. Until then, keep loving big <3

Best,

Amy & Robert

An open letter to our "Covid-19 Couples"

Dear Covid-19 Couples,

Wow, can we all just acknowledge how crazy this time in the world is?! On top of that, you’ve poured yourself into planning your dream wedding for maybe years now. Your vendors carefully selected, your invitations sent out, wedding dress is fitted, the countdown on your phone finally getting down to less than 30 days. But hold that thought, here comes a pandemic that we could have never imagined a few months ago let alone a year or more ago when you began planning. Things start shutting down, people are already losing their jobs, stocking up on supplies and canceling major events. One of those events being your wedding. This sucks, I know, but we are all trying to be positive and figure this out together. Let’s be honest, being positive can be challenging during times like this. But, we want to come along side of you and encourage you. We also want to give you ideas on how to move forward, and how to still celebrate finding your FOREVER person.

The majority of our couples being impacted by the Covid-19 situation have chosen to reschedule.  As your creative team and a fellow human please know that we are HAPPY to accommodate date changes. Thus far, we have been able to move everyone without date conflict and I am truly so thankful. I think I can speak for most vendors and say that we are willing to do what it takes to fulfill our commitment to you. With that in mind, here are two options we have personally walked through with our couples.

Continuing As Planned (kind of)? One of our sweet couples has moved UP their wedding date. They have DOWN graded the scale of the wedding to a small, intimate family-style ceremony in their parents backyard. We will be shooting their ceremony, their love, their commitment to each other all the same. Because, isn’t that what it’s all about anyway? Plus, what a GREAT story to tell for years to come. A reception or renewal will be options to celebrate with friends and family that could not be present for the actual ceremony.

Rescheduling? Yes! You have permission to press pause! Forever is a long time, and there is no rush. Reach out to your vendors to see what is possible. Consider a Friday or Sunday when it’s more likely for your vendors to have availability. Everyone is pretty willing to PIVOT (friends reference, anyone?) so keep the lines of communication open and I’m willing to bet that your vendors, friends and family will stand behind you to make the date change work.

I’ll close with this: this is hard, this is frustrating, but it will get worked out. Remember, this is about FOREVER. When you look at the big picture of spending your life with the one you love it’s easier to remember that everything is figure-out-able. We are here for you at B.E.V. and we truly mean it when we say that we can’t WAIT to celebrate with you whenever that may be.

Best,

Amy & Robert

P.s. We’ve had couples reach out to us that have lost their videographer and deposits due to date changes. Knowing how difficult these uncertain times are, we’ve decided to give back to the community by offering a discount to couples getting married within 2020 that have lost their videographer/photographer due to date conflict. We’d like to offer our Snippets + Teaser package at 20% off. Please email us your story at bevweddings01@gmail.com if you’d like to inquire about availability and this special rate.

The difference between a videographer and a story-teller.

I’ve always been called a videographer and I don’t take offense to that. It’s the most well known term for what I do. When I’m asked what it is that I do, however, I tell people I’m a cinematographer. The difference between a videographer and a cinematographer is probably a topic for another blog, but for now, I want to talk about the difference between a videographer and a story-teller. Because, well, above all the technical stuff, I’m a story-teller. Anyone can pick up a camera and capture images. It takes training, the right equipment and creativity to capture beautiful images. But to become a story-teller it takes a little more than that. While most weddings have a similar flow, and traditions that have remained the same for many years, the truth of the matter is that each of you as a person and as a couple are unique. As a story-teller it is my creative desire to find that spark of uniqueness and bring it to life. Those little moments that seem so natural you don’t even realize how much they mean until afterwards. One of my favorite examples is when I left the camera rolling while the hair stylist worked her magic on the bride. They were chatting about nothing really. It wasn’t a super important shot like a first look, the kiss at the alter or the exchanging of rings. But then something happened, the bride began to tell the hair stylist how her soon to be husband had proposed. The bride told her about what it took to get to their wedding day, how much it meant to her to have a blended family coming together. This was their story. A story that needed to be told. A story that couldn’t just be ran through an editing template like it was any old wedding video. It needed a story-teller to piece it together so that it could be saved forever. It takes time, it takes patience, it takes a bride and groom who are willing to embrace who they are, and it takes a story-teller to put it all together.

To help in your search for your very own story-teller below are 3 things to consider when hiring your creative team.

1. Ask the professional you are considering to walk you through a typical wedding day. How do they go about capturing your moments? Are they checking off a list of the typical shots or are they leaving space for your day to unfold organically.

2. Do they have enough experience shooting weddings to remain calm? Calmness during a wedding day is a MUST for things to go well when things will inevitably go wrong. You need a creative team who has been around the block, who can act with grace and not lose their creative juice when it starts pouring rain, or when things are running late.

3. Consider collaborating with your creative team BEFORE the wedding. I.e. let them know ahead of time the moments that you anticipate to be the most important to you. Then for editing, turn over creative control. The more freedom there is in the editing room, the better. I promise!

Cheers to you and your story friends!

Zach + Paige

Hey y’all! It has been a minute since I’ve taken the time to share in this space. 2019 has been full of amazing weddings and even more amazing couples. One of those weddings happened to be for our sweet friends Zach and Paige. We had the privilege of being invited to go to Ann Arbor, Michigan to capture their day. Neither of us had ever been to Michigan so it was exciting to travel to a new place.

The night before the wedding a big storm rolled through and knocked out power all across town. The wedding venue being one of the storms victims leaving the venue with no AC. The high for that day was in the high 90’s and getting ready for your wedding with no AC was just not going to work. Thankfully, everyone switched gears gracefully and the bride had a new getting ready location in no time. Once the power and AC were back up we headed to the venue to begin the sweetest evening. Zach and Paige opted for a first look which we are always a big fan of. They were able to share a quiet moment before the ceremony and we were able to get great footage of them and the bridal party before it got really busy. Win, win!

It was evident by the speeches that evening how perfect Zach and Paige are for each other and we can’t wait to see where they go in this new season of life! Congratulations again Mr. and Mrs. Zach Brown!

P.s. how cute is their shoe choice?!

Jeff + Lauren

Jeff and Lauren will be a couple that will always hold a special place in our hearts. Originally, I had the pleasure of working with Lauren's father Robert during the booking process. Tragically, he passed away in an unforeseen accident a month or so later. Understandably, Jeff and Lauren were not sure what they were going to do about the wedding, or videography. We desperately wanted them to have a video to remember their day by, and were able to do just that despite the changing of circumstances.

Jeff and Lauren pledged their love to one another with a jewish ceremony at the beautiful Château Elon in Braselton, Georgia. Lauren wore a picture of her father around her neck to keep him close to her heart. While not an easy day for this couple, it could not have been a more touching wedding. Family, friends, guests and vendors really came together to support Jeff and Lauren in this big step forward. We were so glad to witness and capture such a day. Enjoy their teaser below.

Josh + Maddy at The Venue at CeNita

The last weekend of October did not disappoint! The weather is finally cooling off here in Georgia, and we and our couples could not be happier! Cooler weather means a classic fall wedding feel that we just love!

Josh and Maddy certainly told a love story with their day at The Venue at CeNita. They celebrated with Josh's son Landon, and their closest family and friends. We all know that a wedding day can be stressful but Maddy had an exuberance about her all day. This couple was clearly meant to spend a lifetime together, and we were so honored to be apart of this huge day.

Josh and Maddy's teaser is a glimpse into this special day that will give you chills!
